The Alabama Museum of Natural History Hosts Fossil Track Meet

On Saturday, April 8, 2023, the Alabama Museum of Natural History and the Alabama Paleontological Society will be hosting a free fossil Track Meet from 11 am until 3:30 pm. During this event, paleontologists will be bringing in fossil trackways, fossil invertebrates, and fossil plants found in mines and other places from Alabama’s Coal Age for temporary display and photography on tables in the Grand Gallery of Smith Hall. Museum Closures Due to Severe Weather

With the impending threat of severe weather, including the high risk of tornadoes and dangerous weather in West and Central Alabama, normal UA operations will be suspended at 12:30 p.m. today. This means that the Alabama Museum of Natural History, the Gorgas House Museum, the Paul W. Bryant Museum, the Mildred Westervelt Warner Transportation Museum, and Moundville Archaeological Park will all be closed. Normal Operations resume on February 17, 2023.
