Bama Bug Fest

July 27, 2019 4-8 pm  @ Warner Transportation Museum

This year the museum is launching a new annual event, Bama Bug Fest, to celebrate the diversity and benefits of arthropods, a group of animals that includes insects (ants, butterflies and beetles), arachnids (spiders and scorpions), myriapods (centipedes and millipedes) and crustaceans (crabs, shrimps and crayfish), as well as true bugs (like cicadas and plant-hoppers). This free event has something for everyone.

  • Enjoy entertaining displays, exhibits and activities about arthropod (a.k.a. “bug”) diversity — both inside and outside the museum
  • Learn some cool fact about arthropods, which make up three-quarters of all animals on Earth
  • Insect photo booth
  • Hissing cockroach tractor-pull races
  • Cricket spitting competition with prices
  • The chance to sample some insect treats, and learn just how nutritious insects are
  • Bring an unusual bug or photos of bugs to the Stump the Experts table and get an identification
  • Grab a bite to eat from one of the food trucks at our event
