Mission Statement

The Office of Archaeological Research (OAR) will continue to be a leader in Alabama archaeology through the creation of new knowledge, the training of students, partnering with governmental agencies and private industry, and enhancing public awareness of the state's past. OAR will provide an organized structure for education and research involving University faculty, staff and students, and outside researchers, with common interests in archaeology and cultural resource management. OAR will aggressively pursue external funding for research through grants and cultural resource management services consistent with the University's mission of research, teaching, and public service.
