Exhibit: “William C. Gorgas and the Great War”

“William C. Gorgas and the Great War” offers an exciting glimpse into the experience of Alabamians in the global conflict. Gorgas was also influential as Chief Medical Officer during the construction of the Panama Canal. The work of Gorgas saved the lives of countless workers on the project, and the canal was completed and opened on August 15, 1914. The exhibit details the life and impact of Alabama’s renowned physician and U.S. surgeon general, William Crawford Gorgas.
